New West Fest is this weekend! For those of us who don’t know what that is, it’s a free 3-day long music festival in Old Town Fort Collins. And yes, it is completely free!
New West Fest is this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, August 11th-13th. With over 80 different performers, you’ll want to make this an upcoming priority, whether it be a friend or family outing. Headlining the event, you’ll get to see Leftover Salmon, Cake, and Brandi Carlile.
Now there’s a lot to see, and there are different places you’ll want to be. New West Fest is friendly to all ages, meaning that you’ll find some kid areas as well. Overall, there will be 6 preforming stages this weekend, all with different performers. You’ll be able to find rock, jazz, folk, country, and any other band music you can think of.
You can visit Mountain Avenue, Linden Street, Library Park, the Singer-Songwriters Stage, Old Town Square, or the Kid’s Music Adventure Stage.

New West Fest: Is it kid-friendly?
If you have kids, you’ll want to be at the Library Park. There are two sections specifically for them!
In the courtyard, the kids can interact with and build their own instruments, all while enjoying a live musical performance.
The second section is called Kid’s World, where you’ll find kid’s activities and games. On top of that, puppeteering and various dance groups will also be present. This will be located at Olive and Mathews.

This is a massive public event, so you can expect there to be plenty of fun things to buy.
Alcohol food, and other beverages will be served. You will also be able to find plenty of band merchandise!
What else should you know?
No outside alcohol is permitted at the venue. Bag searches will be conducted at all times.
You’ll be outside a lot, so bring sunglasses, sunscreen, a water bottle, and maybe a sandwich!
Keep the load light, as you might be walking around a lot.
Arrange transportation beforehand. Carpooling, taking an Uber or Lyft, using public transport, or riding your bike will be preferable, as there will be limited street access and parking.
